Bone loss can sneak up on you. Although you can’t feel it, your bone structure can weaken gradually over time — for many reasons — and threaten your ability to move and function. Fragile bones increase your risk of fractures or broken bones, which can happen during accidental falls and, in severe cases, during minor bumps or coughing.
You can take steps to protect yourself. Baptist Health Orthopedic Care offers the Bone Health and Fracture Prevention Program to help you stay active and keep your bones as strong as possible.
Our Approach
We provide personalized care that includes:
- Bone health evaluation and screening guidance
- Education about how to protect your bones and prevent fractures
- Diagnosis and management of osteopenia (lower than normal bone mass and bone mineral density)
- Diagnosis and management of osteoporosis (a bone disease that develops when you lose bone mass and density that the bones become thin, weak and at an increased risk of fracture)
