The Institute’s physicians serve as principal investigators for numerous studies now in progress. Our physicians are regularly published and present at conferences. Our involvement in education extends beyond the classroom and into the operating room. The new bioskills lab allows surgeons to train and educate fellows in a simulated surgical setting. Partnering with Florida International University

The Institute has had a long-standing relationship with Florida International University. John Uribe, M.D., is Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics for Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and many of the Institute’s physicians hold faculty positions in the medical school as well. However, the Institute’s involvement in education extends beyond the classroom and into the operating room. The Institute’s new hub contains a bioskills lab, which allows surgeons to train and educate fellows in a simulated surgical setting. BioSkills Lab

Baptist Health Orthopedic Care is training future surgeons in a real-world environment, so that they are fully prepared before stepping into patient procedures. The BioSkills Lab is an integral part of the Institute’s fellowship program and orthopedic surgeons from around the world travel to practice in the bioskills lab.

Innovation

Baptist Health Orthopedic Care physicians and its director of innovation, Thomas San Giovanni, M.D., work closely with Miami Innovation Institute, a part of Baptist Health, to leverage the intellectual talent and creative energy of the Institute’s physicians while building an entrepreneurial ecosystem of innovation partners worldwide. Launched in 2017, Miami Innovation Institute is the embodiment of Baptist Health’s commitment to healthcare innovation and the advancement of patient care. The Institute has championed cutting-edge innovations and is working on developing novel ideas through Baptist Health Orthopedic Care's expansive research.

Fellowships

Baptist Health Orthopedic Care offers one-year fellowships to orthopedic physicians seeking specialization in a field to further enhance their skills after completion of their residency.
