New mothers often have a lot of questions about breastfeeding, before delivering their babies, while in the hospital, once they return home and as their babies get older. The lactation consultants at Baptist Health’s hospitals can answer these questions and help make breastfeeding a rewarding experience.
Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes at Baptist Health
Baptist Health offers breastfeeding classes to mothers who plan to breastfeed or to those who may be unsure. The classes, offered through Childbirth Education, cover the benefits of breastfeeding, nutrition concerns and options for breastfeeding mothers who return to work. Also discussed are latching on and positioning the baby, overcoming common challenges, learning baby’s hunger cues, realistic expectations, and when and where to seek help.
Breastfeeding Assistance in the Hospital
Baptist Health has nurse specialists and certified lactation consultants to help with breastfeeding while you are still in the hospital following your baby’s birth.
