At Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, we understand the physical challenges that can come with cancer and its treatment. And we know how these challenges can affect your well-being. Our Physical Rehabilitation Center is here to help with these challenges, so that you can focus on living.
Cancer and cancer treatments take a toll on your body. They can cause pain, weaken muscles and interfere with your ability to do daily tasks. Physical therapists may help make you stronger. But our rehabilitation team also includes occupational therapists, speech therapists and other medical specialists. They work to identify your needs. Then, they offer treatments and services to address these needs and lessen the side effects associated with your disease and its care.
The expertise of our rehabilitation center staff enables you to get back to doing the key things you were able to do before your diagnosis. Ultimately, our team’s goal is to help you have the best quality of life possible.
Conditions We Treat
Our team can help you with many different physical side effects of cancer treatment, including:
- Balance or walking problems
- Body pain
- Bowel and bladder incontinence
- Difficulty eating, swallowing, talking or opening your mouth
- Fatigue
- Neck problems
- Numbness, weakness or pain caused by chemotherapy (peripheral neuropathy)
- Shoulder problems
- Swelling in the arms or legs (lymphedema)
- Weakness or decreased mobility
Services We Provide

- Diagnostic testing with nerve conduction studies that help diagnose neuropathy
- Exercise classes to restore function, range of motion and conditioning
- Manual lymphatic drainage for treatment of lymphedema
- Peripheral joint injections for pain
- Pelvic floor therapy for treatment of bowel and bladder incontinence
- Physical therapy to improve balance, strength and endurance
- Occupational therapy to help relearn how to do daily activities
