Your patient navigation team will be with you every step of your cancer journey. As a trusted healthcare partner, your team can answer questions about your diagnosis, relieve your concerns about treatment and make recommendations for support services.

Free access to the Patient Navigation Program is part of your care plan. We’re here to help you work through life’s challenges so you can get the treatment you need.

Your Navigation Team

You and your cancer are unique. So, your patient navigation team should be, too. Your team includes professionals who specialize in your type of cancer, including:

  • A nurse navigator: An expert cancer nurse who understands your diagnosis, treatment options and personal needs. Your nurse navigator gets to know you. They understand the details of your cancer treatment, anticipate problems and help you stay on track during therapy.
  • A patient navigator: This skilled support staff member is your guide to all Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute’s resources. They answer your calls, connect you with the right people, offer supportive resources and check up on you frequently.
  • You will meet your nurse navigator early in your treatment program. As your ally and advocate, they get to know you. They learn about your life, beliefs and preferences. This way, they can partner with social workers and other supportive care professionals to ensure you get the personalized care and treatment you need.

My patient navigator walked me through everything that was going to happen during my treatment, she helped me get a wig. When I called her, she always answered. If she was not available, she would get back to me very quickly. She was very caring and compassionate.
