Meet Your Care Team

At Miami Cancer Institute, our renowned cancer specialists and subspecialists work together across numerous medical disciplines (known as a multidisciplinary approach) to provide you with some of the most advanced screenings, comprehensive diagnostics, multidisciplinary care and personalized treatments available today – all under one roof and all conveniently located in South Florida.

  • Our hematologists focus on diagnosing and treating blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, as well as non-cancerous blood disorders. They bring specialized knowledge and experience in interpreting complex lab work and tailoring treatment plans to your unique blood health needs.

  • Interventional radiologists use image-guided, minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat cancer and related conditions. These specialists perform targeted treatments such as biopsies, ablations, and catheter placements, helping reduce recovery times and improve outcomes with less risk and discomfort.

  • Medical geneticists evaluate inherited cancer risks and help identify underlying genetic causes of cancer. They interpret complex genetic test results and work alongside genetic counselors and oncologists to tailor surveillance strategies and treatment plans based on your individual genetic profile.

  • Medical oncologists specialize in diagnosing and treating cancer using systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatments. They play a central role in managing your overall treatment plan and coordinate closely with other members of your care team to ensure seamless care.

  • Palliative care specialists focus on relieving symptoms, managing side effects, and improving quality of life for patients at any stage of cancer. They work in close collaboration with your oncology team to address pain, emotional distress, and other concerns — offering compassionate care that supports both patients and their loved ones.

  • Pathologists study tissue and blood samples to accurately diagnose cancer and determine its type, grade, and stage. Their detailed findings guide your entire care team in creating the most effective treatment plan.

  • Our oncology pharmacists play a critical role in ensuring your cancer medications are safe, effective, and personalized. They monitor for drug interactions, counsel patients on how and when to take medications, and collaborate with your care team to optimize treatment regimens for the best possible outcomes.

  • Radiation oncologists treat cancer using carefully targeted radiation therapies. They design and oversee radiation treatment plans with precision and care, using advanced technologies to minimize side effects and maximize effectiveness.

  • Radiologists use advanced imaging tools such as CT scans, MRIs, and PET scans to detect and monitor cancer. They work closely with your care team to interpret imaging results and assess how your cancer is responding to treatment.

  • Surgical oncologists specialize in removing tumors through surgery. Working in collaboration with medical and radiation oncologists, they assess whether surgery is the best course of action and ensure patients are supported throughout their pre- and post-operative care. Our surgeons often use minimally invasive techniques such as robotic surgery.

  • Advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants) work closely with oncologists to deliver comprehensive cancer care. They evaluate patients, help manage treatments and symptoms, provide education and support and coordinate care to ensure a seamless experience throughout diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
