Giving
As a not-for-profit organization, Baptist Health South Florida relies on donor support through Baptist Health Foundation to help advance technology, research, patient care and programs at Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute.
Your Dollars Speed Innovation
Philanthropy is so integral to Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute, it’s included among our “10 Pillars of Care.” At the Institute, donors support groundbreaking research to give cancer patients a lifesaving edge. Donors also help fund therapeutic programs and services that alleviate the burden cancer places on patients and families. Innovative research trials and beneficial support programs are often not funded by government or reimbursed by insurance. This is why generous donors play a major role in improving the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Our Mission
The Institute is one of the few cancer treatment centers in the world to provide every available radiation therapy technology in one location. We also are the only facility in South Florida – and one of the few in the nation – to offer proton therapy, an innovative treatment that targets cancer cells with pinpoint precision, avoiding healthy tissue. These advanced therapies are delivered by the most skilled radiation oncologists in the field.
A Defining Investment in Cancer Care
Dr. Herbert Wertheim, a South Florida innovator and philanthropist, has made a $100 million gift to Baptist Health — the largest in our history. In his honor, the Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute will carry his name, expanding his vision to drive excellence in patient care.
Dr. Wertheim, thank you. Your investment will power extraordinary outcomes for families in our community for generations to come.
