Miami Cancer Institute’s Board of Directors help to guide the strategic vision, financial sustainability and community awareness of our center. The Board also helps to ensure that Miami Cancer Institute remains a symbol of medical excellence within the Baptist Health South Florida organization and steadfast in carrying out its mission.
Mr. Hudson was chairman of TECO Energy’s board until July 2016 when the company was acquired by Emera, Inc. He was executive chairman from August of 2010 until December 2012, after having served as chairman and CEO since July 2004. Mr. Hudson retired from Deloitte & Touche, LLP in August 2002, after 37 years of service. He is a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He currently serves on the boards of Lennar Corporation, United Insurance Holdings Corporation and CBIZ, Inc. In April 2015, he retired from the Publix Super Markets board after 12 years of service. He serves as chairman of the board of the National Association of Corporate Directors’ (NACD) Florida Chapter.
Known for his community service, he has chaired many of Miami’s not-for-profit organizations, including the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Florida International University Foundation and the Orange Bowl Committee.
Jorge Rico holds an MBA in healthcare and leadership from the University of Miami, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from St. Thomas University. He is a vice chairman of the Board of Trustees at St. Thomas University in Miami.
He has more than 35 years of experience within the healthcare industry, specializing in the development and implementation of strategic plans in both public and privately held companies. Mr. Rico is a co-founding partner of MBF Healthcare Partners and has served as a managing partner of the firm since its founding. He directs MBFs development and manages all aspects of MBFs investment activities.
Mr. Rico has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Navarro Discount Pharmacies, Nutri-Force Nutrition, Simply Healthcare Holdings, Medical Specialties Distributors, Suncrest Healthcare, Affinity Hospice, and Acorn Health. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Carisk Partners and Palm Medical Centers.
Richard A. Berkowitz is an attorney and CPA and leads the Transaction Advisory Services and Investment Banking Practice at Berkowitz Pollack Brant, one of South Florida’s largest advisory and accounting firms. He works with CEOs on mergers and acquisitions, strategy, succession planning, corporate culture and leadership development. Berkowitz is a founder and chairman of Provenance Wealth Advisors, one of the largest national CPA-affiliated financial planning firms.
Berkowitz is active in community organizations in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties that focus on community problems and cancer research. His community involvement includes: past-Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Miami Foundation; Member of the Executive Committee and Co-Chair of the Technology Committee of the Broward Workshop; Member of The Florida Council of 100; Member, Board of Directors, Broward Center for the Performing Arts; Co-Founder, past-Chair and past Executive Board member, Dolphins Cancer Challenge; past-Chair of the State Board, Executive Committee, Treasurer and Board member of Take Stock in Children; past-Chair of the Community Foundation of Broward and Co-Chair, Fisher Island Finance Committee.
Sandra Torcise Fuller is the President of the Victor and Sandra Fuller Family Foundation a/k/a The Fuller Family Foundation (FFF), a Florida non-profit. In November 2005, Sandra and her late husband, Victor, established their foundation as a generational way to teach their two young daughters the importance of giving back to their community and making a difference in the lives of others. Their primary focus has been veteran affairs; cancer education and research; hearing, speech and language therapy for disabled individuals; rescue and re-homing of abused horses; and support for free speech and communication. Sandra and the FFF are especially proud of their support in the building of the National Medal of Honor Museum in Charleston, South Carolina, the Miami Cancer Institute in Miami, Florida and, the first of its kind, FES Hand Glove 200 developed at the Tampa VA for hand rehabilitation of active military personnel injured by IED’s.
In addition to being involved in philanthropy, Sandra Fuller is a retired attorney and the president of a family real estate holding company. During her legal career, she practiced corporate and securities law and commercial litigation including securities fraud. Sandra received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Stetson University and a Juris Doctor from Mercer University.
