Our Approach to Prostate Cancer Treatment at LCI

Meet Our Specialists

Our specialists in prostate cancer treatment are trained in using targeted therapies like Pluvicto. At LCI, your care is guided by a team of board-certified experts who understand both the science and the emotional support needed to navigate treatment.

What is Pluvicto and how does it work?

Pluvicto is a radiopharmaceutical medication designed to deliver targeted radiation to prostate cancer cells that express PSMA (prostate-specific membrane antigen). It is FDA-approved for treating metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) in men who have received only one androgen receptor pathway inhibitor.

What is metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer?

This condition develops when prostate cancer cells spread beyond the prostate and resist hormone-based treatments. Pluvicto works by locating these cells and emitting low-level radiation to disrupt their function.

Who is eligible for Pluvicto therapy?

It may be recommended for patients with PSMA-positive mCRPC after only 1 androgen receptor pathway inhibitor.

What are the benefits of Pluvicto?

Pluvicto delivers focused radiation directly to cancer cells, which means it minimizes damage to healthy tissues. Patients may experience a decline in PSA levels and a delay in disease progression.

Benefits of Pluvicto include:

  • Targets PSMA-positive cancer cells
  • Minimizes harm to healthy tissues
  • Delays disease progression
  • May improve symptoms and quality of life

What are the side effects of Pluvicto treatment?

Patients may experience nausea, fatigue, decreased appetite, dry mouth, or lowered blood counts. Our team closely monitors for these effects and offers support as needed.

How should I prepare for Pluvicto treatment?

You'll undergo PSMA imaging to confirm eligibility. On treatment days, plan to stay well-hydrated and follow your care team’s specific instructions.

What happens during Pluvicto treatment?

Pluvicto is administered intravenously in an outpatient setting. Each treatment session lasts about 90 minutes, and patients typically undergo up to six sessions, spaced six weeks apart.

What should I expect after treatment?

Radiation from the drug remains in your system for a short time. You’ll receive safety instructions and return for follow-up lab work and imaging.

How long is recovery after Pluvicto?

Most patients resume normal activities shortly after treatment. Ongoing check-ins ensure that recovery is on track and any side effects are addressed early.
