A Team Approach to Sophisticated Surgical Care

Endocrine nodules and tumors can affect several parts of your life, including the way you eat, sleep, speak, and feel. When you’re diagnosed with an endocrine growth, you need prompt, knowledgeable care. You can be confident you’ll get that from Baptist Health.

We have the most experienced endocrine tumors team in Palm Beach County. Additionally, as the only group based in a cancer center, we collaborate with endocrinologists, pathologists, radiologists, medical and radiation oncologists, thoracic surgeons and surgical oncologists. Through these partnerships, we create the best treatment plan for your unique needs.

Convenient Access to Comprehensive Care

Our dedicated team streamlines your endocrine care experience. You don’t need a specific referral to make an appointment. Any physician — your primary care provider, gynecologist, cardiologist, or another specialist — can send you to us if they suspect you have an endocrine tumor or overactivity of an endocrine organ.

In most cases, we can schedule your first appointment within a few weeks. During your initial visit for thyroid or parathyroid disease, our surgeon performs an in-office ultrasound of your thyroid or parathyroid glands and surrounding lymph nodes. This means you won’t need to schedule a separate radiology appointment. While the surgeon is performing the ultrasound, you will immediately be informed of the results and the next best step in your care: biopsy, surgery, or further testing or imaging may be needed. If biopsy is needed, the procedure can be performed at that same appointment. Scheduling of surgery or additional testing will take place that day as well.

Based on these test results, we deliver an accurate, timely diagnosis that ensures you get the treatment you need as soon as possible. Our goal is to reduce your symptoms and their effect on your body so you can get back to feeling like your regular self.

Endocrine Conditions We Treat

We have the expertise to treat a wide variety of endocrine conditions. We offer procedures for:

  • Hyperparathyroidism
  • Parathyroid cancer
  • Benign thyroid nodules or goiter
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Adrenal tumors
  • Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors
  • Genetic endocrine tumor disorders (including MEN syndromes, Li Fraumeni syndrome, and others)

Endocrine Procedures We Perform

Our surgical team has the expertise to complete a full range of minimally invasive procedures. We use image guidance and tiny laparoscopic tools to make the smallest incisions. This leads to less pain and faster recovery times.

Some of the common procedures we perform include:

  • Parathyroidectomy: Removal of one or more of your four parathyroid glands
  • Thyroidectomy: Removal of a lobe or all of your thyroid gland
  • Adrenalectomy: Removal of one or both of your adrenal glands
  • Pancreatectomy: Removal of all or part of your pancreas (we partner with our surgical oncologists for this procedure)
Clinical Trials

Clinical Trials

At Lynn Cancer Institute, we treat cancer in today’s patients and offer hope for those who may get the disease in the future. Through clinical trials, we study promising new ways to diagnose and treat cancer. As our patient, you have access to trials and treatments that aren’t widely available elsewhere.

If a clinical trial may be right for you, we’ll talk with you about the potential benefits and risks. We make your overall well-being and safety our top priority if you choose to participate.
