Surviving Breast Cancer
It’s possible to have breast cancer for years before you notice any changes in your breast. So, early detection is key to surviving the disease. Thanks to improved screening, mammography and other detection methods, many patients find breast cancer early. The earlier you find breast cancer, the easier it is to treat for the best results, including a full remission.
About 90 percent of people with breast cancer survive the disease. When cancer cells haven’t spread from their original location, the breast cancer survival rate after five years approaches 99 percent. After 10 years, the survival rate for these patients is 85 percent.
