If you have a neurological condition and need psychiatric care, the psychiatry team at Baptist Health can help.
Our board-certified psychiatrist offers psychiatric evaluations and uses medications and advanced therapies to treat new or worsening symptoms of anxiety and mood disorders.
We also work closely with Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care neurologists to manage your care so treatments don’t interfere with neurological disease therapies.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
We know that many people don’t respond to antidepressant medications. This is called treatment-resistant depression. At Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care, we offer transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for treatment resistant depression.
TMS is a noninvasive technological breakthrough that involves applying a series of short magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in areas of the brain known to be associated with major depression. This treatment for depression is sometimes called repetitive TMS (rTMS) because repetitive magnetic pulses are delivered.
TMS treatments can be completed within a 30-minute appointment. After TMS, you can go about your day. There is no downtime, though you may experience brief but light discomfort of the scalp. If you need TMS, you can expect to receive treatments three times per week over about 10 weeks.
Some people who have TMS experience complete remission from their depressive symptoms. Others have fewer symptoms but may still need medications. If you have TMS, it is likely you’ll be able to reduce your medications, but you may still need some medication-based treatment.
