Neurology Programs
Autonomic Disorders
Autonomic disorders affect the autonomic nervous system, which controls many of the body’s automatic functions, including heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, sweating, digestion, bladder function and other essential processes.
Epilepsy & Seizures
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by a tendency to have recurrent, unprovoked seizures. A seizure is a sudden, abnormal burst of electrical activity in the brain that can affect awareness, movement, sensation, emotions, or behavior.
Memory & Cognitive Disorders
Overall, cognitive disorders affect memory, reasoning, language, judgment and behavior. Some changes happen gradually, while others can appear more suddenly, and symptoms may interfere with work, relationships, finances or daily routines.
Migraines & Headaches
Headache disorders cause repeated pain or pressure in the head, scalp or neck. Unlike an occasional headache, recurring symptoms can interfere with work, sleep, concentration and daily routines. Conditions such as migraine and trigeminal neuralgia may require specialized evaluation because symptoms can overlap or change over time.
Multiple Sclerosis & Neuroimmunology
Multiple sclerosis and other neuroimmunological conditions can affect vision, movement, sensation, balance and daily function in very different ways from one person to the next.
Neuromuscular Disorders
Neuromuscular disorders are a large group of conditions that affect nerves and muscles of the body. While signs and symptoms vary depending on the disorder, common ones include numbness, limb weakness, difficulty walking and in some cases difficulty breathing or swallowing.
Neuro-Ophthalmology
Neuro-ophthalmology is a highly specialized area of care focused on visual symptoms that may be caused by problems in the brain, optic nerve, eye movement pathways or pupil function. These conditions can be confusing for patients because the symptoms may seem eye-related, neurologic or both.
Stroke & Cerebrovascular Care
Stroke & cerebrovascular care focuses on conditions that affect blood vessels and blood flow in the brain, head, neck and spine. A stroke is one type of cerebrovascular disease, but the same specialty also includes conditions such as aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, carotid artery disease, moyamoya disease, fistulas, intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage and subdural hematoma.
Tremors & Movement Disorders
Tremors and movement disorders are neurologic conditions that can change the speed, control and coordination of movement. Some cause shaking, while others lead to stiffness, slowness, muscle contractions or trouble with balance and walking. Early evaluation matters because symptoms can worsen over time or overlap with other conditions, including dystonia, ataxia and essential tremor.
Neurosurgery Programs
Brain & Spine Tumors
The Brain & Spine Tumor Program cares for patients with tumors affecting the brain, spine, skull base and nearby structures of the nervous system.
Hydrocephalus
Hydrocephalus happens when cerebrospinal fluid builds up in and around the brain. In adults, one of the most important forms we evaluate is normal pressure hydrocephalus, or NPH, which can affect walking, thinking and bladder control even when fluid pressure appears normal on testing.
Spine Surgery
Spine surgery includes procedures used to relieve pressure on nerves, stabilize the spine, correct structural problems or remove damaged tissue that is causing pain and loss of function. It may be recommended when symptoms are severe, progressive or no longer improving with medication, therapy, injections or other nonsurgical care.
Other Brain & Spine Care Programs
Nonsurgical Spine Care & Pain Management
Nonsurgical Spine Care & Pain Management focuses on diagnosing and treating back, neck and spine symptoms without making surgery the first step. It is often the right option for patients whose pain is caused by inflammation, nerve irritation, muscle strain, wear-and-tear changes, or joint dysfunction.
Peripheral Nerve Care & Neurodiagnostics
Peripheral Nerve Care & Neurodiagnostics is a program focused on identifying and managing conditions that affect the peripheral nerves and the way signals travel between the brain, spinal cord, muscles and skin. These problems can cause numbness, tingling, burning pain, weakness, muscle loss, or changes in coordination that are difficult to explain without specialized evaluation.
Psychiatry & Neuropsychology
Psychiatry focuses on diagnosing and treating mood, anxiety, behavioral and other psychiatric symptoms, while neuropsychology evaluates how brain function affects memory, language, attention, behavior and thinking. In brain and spine care, these specialties often work together because neurological conditions can affect both emotional health and cognition.
Sleep Care
Sleep medicine focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the quality, timing and duration of sleep, as well as problems that cause excessive daytime sleepiness or unsafe behaviors during sleep. Because sleep affects brain function, mood, memory, concentration and physical health, untreated sleep disorders can affect nearly every part of daily life.
