All Facilities

To protect the privacy of our patients and staff, the use of recording devices, including cell phone cameras and wearable recording devices such as glasses, is prohibited at our facilities.

Outpatient Surgery Centers and Diagnostic Imaging Centers

One adult visitor may accompany patients unless site-specific circumstances prevent this from occurring.

Free Standing Emergency Rooms

One visitor is allowed at this time.
Exceptions will be made for pediatrics and other special circumstances.

Urgent Care Centers

One visitor is allowed at urgent care and urgent care express locations.

Physician Offices

One adult visitor may accompany a patient at most physician offices. Due to space limitations, some physician offices may not be able to accommodate visitors. If you have an appointment at a physician’s office, please call ahead to confirm visitor guidelines at that location.

Hospitals

For the health and safety of our patients, our visitor policy is as follows:
- Visiting hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- After 9 p.m., all patients must enter and exit through the Emergency Room. The main lobby will be closed.
- Elective procedures or diagnostic imaging patients may have one visitor on the day of procedure and/or testing.
The visitation policy is managed by the Patient Experience and Security teams. They may be reached at 1-833-MyBaptist (1-833-692-2784).

For the health and safety of our patients, our visitor policy is as follows:
- Visiting hours are from 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
- After 9 p.m., all patients must enter and exit through the Emergency Room. The main lobby will be closed.
- Labor & Delivery and Maternity patients may have two visitors present at all times. Maternity patients may have children/sibling visitors post-delivery. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
- NICU visitation hours are 24/7. Two visitors at a time.
- Elective surgery patients may be accompanied by one visitor in pre-procedure/surgery area if space permits. Two visitors are allowed in our waiting areas.
Active screening for symptoms is taking place at entrance to the Emergency Room only.

- Mother Baby (1 West): Two visitors allowed at a time.
- NICU: 24/7 visitation. Two visitors allowed at a time.
- OB ED: One visitor allowed at all times.
- Critical Care Units: 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Two visitors at a time.
- Emergency Department: Two visitors at a time in the waiting room, as capacity allows. One visitor at a time is allowed in the back or in the Emergency Department hallway.
- Elective surgery patients may be accompanied by one visitor in pre-procedure/surgery area if space permits. Two visitors are allowed in our waiting areas.

- Surgery: 5:30 a.m.- 7 p.m. Patients may be accompanied by one visitor at a time in pre-procedure/surgery area if space permits. Two visitors are allowed in our waiting areas, if space permits.

To protect the health and safety of our patients, employees and medical staff, our visitor policy is as follows:
- Patients admitted with COVID: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Two visitors at a time.
- Inpatient Units: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Two visitors at a time.
- Critical Care Units: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Two visitors at a time.
- Emergency Department: Two visitors at a time in waiting room, as capacity allows. One visitor at a time allowed in the back or ER hallway.
- Surgery: Two visitors in the waiting room, as capacity allows.
- Outpatient services and procedures in hospital: Two visitors in the waiting room, as capacity allows.
- Labor & Delivery: One visitor at all times. Two additional visitors are permitted during regular visiting hours (8 a.m. - 8 p.m.). Siblings are permitted.

Cancer Institutes Updated Visitor Guidelines

Visitors are welcome to all Baptist Health Cancer Care Facilities.

The visitor guidelines for our cancer facilities are as follows:

Patients may bring adult companions to their appointments. Face Masks for visitors and patients are optional throughout Miami Cancer Institute, except for visitors while in proximity (within 6 feet) or when inside the room of a patient under isolation precautions, or if a cancer patient requests for staff to wear masks within their proximity.

Masking Guidelines

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends two tiers of precautions to prevent the spread of infections in the healthcare setting: Standard Precautions and Transmission-Based Precautions. Risk-based Standard Precautions and Transmission-Based Precautions make use of common practices and personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect patients, employees, and visitors from infection, and prevent the spread of infection within the healthcare setting.

To ensure the health and safety of our patients, employees, and visitors, face masks will be required under special circumstances, such as when a patient, visitor, or employee is exhibiting signs or symptoms of or has a diagnosed infectious disease that can be spread through droplet or airborne transmission. This policy applies to all Baptist Health employees, visitors and patients, two years of age and older.

Note: Patients, visitors and employees may opt out of wearing a face mask if an alternative method of infection control or infectious disease prevention is available.

The use of a face mask is required for patients and visitors as described below:

The use of a face mask is required for patients in common areas of the healthcare setting if the patient is exhibiting signs or symptoms of or has a diagnosed infectious disease that can be spread through droplet or airborne transmission.
Visitors should avoid entering a healthcare setting if they are sick, unless seeking medical care or otherwise necessary. The use of a face mask is required if the visitor is:
1. Exhibiting signs or symptoms of or has a diagnosed infectious disease that can be spread through droplet or airborne transmission.
2. In sterile areas of the healthcare setting or an area where sterile procedures are being performed.
3. In an in-patient or clinical room with a patient who is exhibiting signs or symptoms of or has a diagnosed infectious disease that can be spread through droplet or airborne transmission.
4. Visiting a patient with a diagnosed or confirmed condition affecting the immune system, where the treating practitioner has determined that the use of a face mask is necessary for the patient’s safety. The use of a face mask is required even if no signs or symptoms are indicated by the visitor/patient.
Patients or visitors with questions regarding our face mask use expectations can ask a caregiver team member or the Patient Experience department for further guidance. The Infection Prevention & Control Department will assess any opt out requests by a patient/visitor in conjunction with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), when necessary, to determine if an alternative method of prevention is appropriate.
Employees are required to use an FDA-certified medical/surgical mask or, when indicated, a NIOSH-approved respirator if they are:
1. Conducting sterile procedures.
2. Working in a sterile area.
3. Caring for a patient with a diagnosed or confirmed condition affecting the immune system, where the treating practitioner has determined that the use of a face mask is necessary for the patient’s safety. The use of a face mask is required even if no signs or symptoms are indicated by the employee/patient.
4. With a patient on droplet or airborne isolation (when inside a room with patient or when within 6 feet of a patient if patient is not inside a room).
5. Engaging in non-clinical potentially hazardous activities that require a face mask to prevent physical injury or harm in accordance with industry standards.

Beyond these examples, visitor permission may be granted by the patient care team on a case-by-case basis. Exceptions will be made for pediatrics, oncology and other special circumstances.
