Zhijian Chen, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute as a neuro-oncologist
MIAMI, FL – January 5, 2023 – Board-certified neuro-oncologist Zhijian Chen, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. He specializes in treating glioma and neurological complications from cancer treatment.

Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Chen served as an associate professor for the Massey Cancer Center’s Department of Neurology/Neuro-Oncology at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Chen’s research has been published in over 20 medical journals and book chapters, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of Neuro-oncology Neuropharmacology, Experimental Neurology and Journal of Neurosurgery. He also holds a patent for an innovative coaxial catheter system. Through his achievements in research, he earned the VCU Presidential Research Quest Fund in 2018. Dr. Chen is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
Dr. Chen earned his medical degree from the Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, China. He then completed his adult neurology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University and his fellowship in neuro-oncology at the Cleveland Clinic.
He will see patients at Miami Cancer Institute, located at 8900 North Kendall Dr., and is fluent in English and Mandarin.
