South Miami Hospital awarded Pre-term Labor and Prematurity Certifications from The Joint Commission
Awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care. To earn the certifications, South Miami Hospital underwent rigorous, unannounced onsite reviews. The Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with pre-term labor- and prematurity-specific requirements. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help hospitals measure, assess and improve performance.
