MIAMI, FL - September 23, 2024 - A new era has dawned for healthcare education and training with the opening of the Baptist Health Education Center at Baptist Hospital. The state-of-the-art, 38,000-square-foot facility provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary learning environment for medical, nursing and other clinical professionals. “The Education Center shows our commitment to attracting, educating and retaining the healthcare workforce that will best serve the community in the future,” said Ana Lopez-Blazquez, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, Baptist Health. “We are proud that the Center will bring together technology, subject matter experts and our partners for experiential learning that will elevate the skills of our medical professionals.”

The Education Center features 10 fully equipped surgical and medical simulation rooms, a robotics room, a virtual reality room, and specialized spaces such as an Emergency Department room, eICU, hybrid OR, trauma bay and outpatient exam rooms to replicate all types of medical scenarios and clinical events. The facility also includes dedicated debriefing rooms, procedural skills labs and classrooms.

“This is a significant investment in preparing our community for the healthcare needs of tomorrow,” said Samer Fahmy, M.D., chief medical executive, Baptist Health. “Every aspect of the building — from its detailed simulation rooms to the collaborative spaces — was tailored to foster quality, innovation and excellence in evidence-based standardized care.”
