Naomi Dempsey, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute as Breast Cancer Medical Oncologist

MIAMI, FL –January 6, 2022 – Board-certified medical oncologist Naomi Dempsey, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. Dr. Dempsey specializes in breast cancer medical oncology. She is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. 

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Dempsey to Miami Cancer Institute,” said Leonard Kalman, M.D., executive deputy director and chief medical officer at Miami Cancer Institute. “Her extensive breast cancer research and compassionate, evidenced-based healthcare will greatly benefit our patients.”

Before joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Dempsey served as a hematologist and breast medical oncologist at the Lynn Cancer Institute.

Her passion for research began as an undergraduate when she received a grant from the American Cancer Society. Since then, multiple medical journals such as Breast Cancer Research and Treatment have published her research papers. Dr. Dempsey has a background in basic science breast cancer research but now focusses on breast cancer clinical trials. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society and American College of Physicians.

“I prefer a collaborative approach to patient care,” said Dr. Dempsey. “Outcomes improve when you prioritize each patient’s needs and values.”

Dr. Dempsey earned her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She completed a residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Then she served as the chief fellow of hematology and oncology at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

She will see patients at Miami Cancer Institute, 1228 South Pine Island Road Plantation, FL 33324.
