Martha Kato, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute as Clinical Psychiatrist
MIAMI – APRIL 21, 2022 – Board-certified clinical psychiatrist Martha Kato, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. Dr. Kato specializes in consultation-liaison psychiatry. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Kato was an associate professor of clinical psychiatry for ten years at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kato has been involved in research focusing on the effectiveness of medications to treat major depression in adults experiencing other disease states. Her research has been published in numerous medical journals, including the Primary Care Companion to The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, Psychosomatics, Diabetic Medicine and Diabetes Care.
She was also selected by peers multiple times to the Best Doctors in America lists.
Dr. Kato earned her medical degree from the Universidad Central de Este. She completed her internal medicine and psychiatry residency at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr Kato is triple boarded in Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and Consultation- Liaison Psychiatry.
