BOCA RATON, FL – April 5, 2023 – Marcus Neuroscience Institute, established at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health, receives accreditation from The National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), as a level 3 epilepsy center. The two-year accreditation holds the Institute to a higher standard of care, as the professionals maintain the expertise to provide the highest level of medical evaluation and treatment for patients with epilepsy. Marcus Neuroscience Institute is the first and only level 3 epilepsy center in Palm Beach County. As a level 3 epilepsy center, MarcusDoctor Pooja-Patel Neuroscience Institute offers an array of services to diagnose and treat patients with epilepsy. All services are individualized to specific patient needs and can range from medication adjustment to surgery, if needed. With our outpatient clinic on the first floor and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Intensive Care Unit, neuro-operating rooms and MRI on the second floor, patients have the ease of knowing all services can be provided in the same building.

“It’s a great honor for Marcus Neuroscience Institute to receive this recognition. This accreditation validates our commitment to care and attention to detail when it comes to our patients and their overall progress”, shared Pooja Patel, M.D., neurologist and director of the epilepsy monitoring unit at Marcus Neuroscience Institute.

The National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) recognizes four levels of epilepsy care, which indicate to healthcare providers the appropriateness and quality of specialized epilepsy care. As a level 3 center, Marcus Neuroscience Institute provides a range of medical, neuropsychological and psychosocial services needed to treat patients with refractory epilepsy, in addition to neurodiagnostic evaluations. Additionally, Marcus Neuroscience Institute offers evaluation for epilepsy surgery, basic resective epilepsy surgery, and implantation of the vagus nerve stimulator.
