Kyaw Aung, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., Joins Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute

MIAMI, FL – March 3, 2026 – Medical oncologist Kyaw Aung, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., has joined Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. He specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, particularly pancreatic cancer.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Aung was an assistant professor of oncology at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin and a gastrointestinal medical oncologist UT Health Austin's Livestrong Cancer Institutes.

Dr. Aung earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine 1 in Yangon, Myanmar and his doctorate degree in circulating tumor DNA at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. He completed an internal medicine residency at Lincoln County Hospital and a medical oncology fellowship at Clatterbridge Cancer Center NHS Foundation Trust, located in the United Kingdom. His clinical training also includes a fellowship in Phase I Oncology Drug Development and Gastrointestinal Cancers at Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Toronto, Canada. 

As a clinical and translational researcher, Dr. Aung conducts studies focused on early-phase drug development for pancreatic cancer. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in medical journals and presented his work at national and international oncology conferences. He is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Royal Colleges of Physicians (United Kingdom).

Dr. Aung provides patient-centered and non-judgmental care. “After a thorough discussion of treatment options, I collaborate with my patients to make a joint decision based on the best available evidence and the patient's personal values and preferences,” he said.

Dr. Aung is fluent in English and Burmese (Myanmar). He will see patients at Miami Cancer Institute, located at 8900 North Kendall Drive, Miami, FL 33176.
