Juan Pretell, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute as Chief of Musculoskeletal Oncology Surgery
MIAMI – May 12, 2022 – Board-certified musculoskeletal oncology surgeon Juan Pretell, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. Dr. Pretell specializes in benign and malignant musculoskeletal tumors and skin cancers affecting the musculoskeletal system. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Prior to joining the Institute, Dr. Pretell was an associate professor of Orthopedic and faculty of the Orthopedic Surgery residency program and Musculoskeletal Oncology fellowship at The University of Miami. He was also the director of clinical research in the Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology Surgery.
His research has been published in high-impact national and international orthopedic and oncology journals. As a well-respected national and international speaker, Dr. Pretell is an active member of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and fellow of the AAOS. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Pretell earned his medical degree from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima. Peru. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Pretell also completed multiple trauma, pediatric orthopedic and musculoskeletal oncology fellowships.
