Juan Cedeno, M.D., Joins Baptist Health as a Urologist

December 15, 2022

MIAMI, FL – December 15, 2022 – Juan Cedeno, M.D., joins Baptist Health as a urologist, following the completion of his reconstructive urology fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

“Dr. Cedeno’s extensive experience in both surgical and clinical urology make him an excellent addition to our urology team,” says Bernie Fernandez, M.D., chief executive officer of Baptist Health Medical Group. “His outstanding contributions to numerous studies, projects and scientific literature exemplify his drive for innovative and compassionate care.”

As a minimally invasive urological reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Cedeno performs complex procedures, including gender-affirming surgery, using robotic platforms. He also harvests tissue for urinary tract reconstructions and places genital prostheses for erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence.

Despite growing up with a gastroenterologist father and a pediatric oncologist mother, it was not until a career-ending motocross accident that Dr. Cedeno developed an interest in medicine. His experience with the surgical team in the emergency room inspired him to become a doctor.

“I felt the gratitude and trust patients have for their doctors, and that inspired my current mission in life. I want to relieve the physical and emotional pain of people who are ill or suffering,” says Dr. Cedeno. “Through compassion, empathy and respect, I strive to care for the person first and the patient after.”

For Dr. Cedeno, medicine is not just a career – it is a passion. He spends much of his free time as a mentor for a nonprofit organization that helps international doctors transition to the United States. He also participates in mission trips to South America, where he gives back to communities that remind him of his childhood home in Venezuela.

Dr. Cedeno will see patients at 975 Baptist Way, Suite 102, Homestead, FL 33033.
