Hematologist Srikanth Nagalla, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute as Chief of Benign Hematology

Dr. Nagalla joins Miami Cancer Institute from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he was the medical director of the Blood Disorders Clinic and the director of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, as well as an associate professor in internal medicine.
In addition to his extensive experience in benign hematology, Dr. Nagalla has a master’s degree in microbiology and immunology. He has also contributed significant research to the field of platelet biology that could have a lasting impact on how diseases are treated in the future. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in the field of hematology.
Dr. Nagalla is also passionate about training the next generation of physicians. He has received several awards for his work in teaching medical students and trainees. He serves on multiple national committees for medical education.
Dr. Nagalla earned his medical degree from Madras Medical College. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of North Dakota in Fargo, North Dakota. He completed his fellowship in medical oncology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and his fellowship in hematology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
He will see inpatients at Baptist Hospital of Miami and South Miami Hospital, as well as benign hematology patients in the outpatient setting.
