Harel Deutsch, M.D., Joins Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute as Director of Spine Surgery
MIAMI, FL – August 24, 2026 – Fellowship-trained, board-certified neurosurgeon Harel Deutsch, M.D., has joined Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute as director of spine surgery. An internationally recognized leader in spinal surgery, Dr. Deutsch specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, motion preservation surgery and the treatment of failed back surgery syndrome. He brings nearly three decades of experience advancing innovative surgical techniques, educating future neurosurgeons and improving outcomes for patients with complex spine disorders.
Before joining Baptist Health, Dr. Deutsch served as a professor of neurosurgery and the co-director of the Rush Spine Center at Rush University in Chicago. A graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine, he completed his neurosurgery residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, followed by a spine surgery fellowship at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Throughout his career, he has served as principal investigator for numerous U.S. Food and Drug Administration clinical trials evaluating new spine technologies and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and scientific presentations. He is also a founding member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and founder and board member of the Ghana Brain and Spine Foundation.

Dr. Deutsch is known for a thoughtful, patient-centered approach that emphasizes conservative treatment whenever possible.
