Domenech Asbun, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute as Hepatobiliary, Pancreas and Foregut Surgeon
MIAMI – November 1, 2021 – Board-certified hepatobiliary, pancreas and foregut surgeon Domenech Asbun, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health. Dr. Asbun specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat liver, pancreatic and upper gastrointestinal diseases. Dr. Asbun is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Italian and Portuguese.
“Dr. Asbun has completed years of specialized fellowship training in hepatopancreatobiliary and foregut surgery using minimally invasive techniques,” said Leonard Kalman, M.D., executive deputy director and chief medical officer at Miami Cancer Institute. “We know his extensive experience and training, combined with his passion for patient care, will make him an excellent addition to Miami Cancer Institute.”
Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Asbun completed a fellowship in minimally invasive hepatopancreatobiliary and foregut surgery at the Mayo Clinic Hospital Florida.
He has presented at national and international surgical meetings. His research has been published in multiple high-impact surgical journals, including Annals of Surgery and Surgical Endoscopy. He has a strong interest and significant experience in surgical simulation.
Dr. Asbun completed his surgical residency at UCSF Fresno. This was followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive hepatopancreatobiliary and foregut surgery at Mayo Clinic Florida.
He will see patients at Miami Cancer Institute, located at 8900 North Kendall Drive in Miami.
