Cardiologist Pedro Covas, M.D., Joins Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute
MIAMI, FL – November 3, 2025 – Board-certified noninvasive cardiologist Pedro Covas, M.D., has joined Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. His expertise lies in using echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography (CT) to guide structural heart procedures. His other clinical interests include valvular heart disease, cardiac CT for the evaluation of coronary artery disease and artificial intelligence to improve cardiovascular imaging. He is certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and cardiovascular computed tomography.
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Covas was an assistant professor of clinical medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and director of structural imaging at the University of Miami Health System.

Dr. Covas earned his medical degree at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed an internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he served as chief cardiology fellow during his final year. He also completed a cardiac imaging fellowship at Baylor Scott & White – The Heart Hospital Plano in Plano, Texas.
Dr. Covas is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. He has published articles focused on cardiac imaging in medical journals and presented at scientific symposiums.
