Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation Honors Donors at Proton Therapy Center

BOCA RATON, FL – February 20, 2026 – The Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation celebrated with donors the upcoming addition of proton therapy at the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, at the Harvey & Phyllis Sandler Pavilion at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health.  

The donor event, which took place on Feb. 19, 2026, in advance of the center’s summer opening, acknowledged lead donors and community members who generously contributed to the project, including Barbara C. Gutin, Irving & Barbara C. Gutin Charitable Foundation, Judy and Artie Canter, Renee and Barry Honig, Leticia (Tish) Messinger, Arlette and Robert Britton, Art and Debbie Newman and the Estate of Richard Blackman. 

“We are very fortunate to have had the philanthropic support needed to bring proton therapy to the South Palm Beach County area,” said Lincoln Mendez, North Region executive, Baptist Health, and CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital. “This project was fully funded by the generosity of the community. We simply would not have this groundbreaking technology and treatment without all those who gave gifts, no matter the size, to this initiative.”  

Among those in attendance for the event, in addition to Mr. Mendez, were Mark Larkin, president of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation; Dr. Leonard Kalman, interim system chief executive for Baptist Health Cancer Care and interim executive medical director for Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute; Dr. Louise Morrell, chief medical executive of Lynn Cancer Institute; Dr. Michael Kasper, medical director of the Institute’s radiation oncology program; and Dr. Robert Press, director of proton therapy at Lynn Cancer Institute.  

The addition of proton therapy further strengthens the Institute’s commitment to advancing cancer care through innovation, compassion and community partnership. By expanding access to this highly precise treatment close to home, our experts are offering new hope, improved outcomes, and a brighter future for those facing cancer.
