Baptist Health Recognized as the First in the Nation to Add Clinical Wellness Pharmacists to Staff
MIAMI, FL – November 15, 2022 – Baptist Health is being recognized as the first healthcare system in the nation to add clinical wellness pharmacists to its staff. In line with the organization’s commitment to expanding well-being services for employees, physicians and the greater South Florida community, Baptist Health has brought on Marissa Brooks, PharmD, and Brandon Welch, PharmD, to join the team as certified wellness coaches.
“Hiring a clinical wellness pharmacist has never been done at any other institution and is an example of what sets Baptist Health apart from other organizations,” said Madeline Camejo, vice president and chief pharmacy officer for Baptist Health. “These new positions will support services for pharmacists as well as build greater relationships within Baptist Health among peer physicians, nurses, dieticians and support staff.”
In their new roles, Marissa Brooks will be focusing on oncology, community and employee health, while Brandon Welch will be dedicated to executive health, orthopedics and sports medicine. This unique positioning strengthens Baptist Health’s offerings where these wellness pharmacists will act as liaisons to health and healthcare for patients and their family members.
This announcement comes on the heels of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists announcing the launch of the well-being certification program. Marissa Brooks helped create the program and will be the first pharmacist employed in an institution to focus on well-being directly as part of her position.
