Baptist Health Reaches Construction Milestone for the Al and Jane Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center

October 9, 2025

MIAMI, FL – October 9, 2025 – Baptist Health announced today that it has reached a new phase of construction for the 155,000-square-foot Al and Jane Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center. One year after the groundbreaking of the project, the “topping out” signifies the completion of the building’s exterior structure and represents the growth and expansion of Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, the flagship of Baptist Health Cancer Care.

Located on the campus of Baptist Health Baptist Hospital, the highly anticipated Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center will serve as a premier destination for the care of women with cancer. The first of its kind in the region, the new building represents the system’s ongoing commitment to honoring the needs of women, who make up 65 percent of Miami Cancer Institute’s patients.

Opening in early 2027, the building of the Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center has been made possible through the generous support of donors to Baptist Health Foundation, including a transformational gift from Al and Jane Nahmad. Longtime advocates for women’s wellness and healthcare, the Nahmads have been steadfast benefactors of Baptist Health. “We are very pleased to see the Women’s Cancer Center become a reality and to be a part of such an innovative, state-of-the-art resource for women’s healthcare in South Florida,” said Mr. Nahmad.

The Center reflects the vision of Michael Zinner, M.D., CEO and executive medical director of Miami Cancer Institute, who has championed a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to women’s cancer care.

“This event marks not only a significant construction milestone, but also tangible progress toward a future where women with cancer can receive compassionate and cutting-edge care, all under one roof,” said Leonard Kalman, M.D., Chief Medical Executive of Baptist Health Cancer Care. “Inspired by the remarkable generosity of the Nahmad family, the new Women’s Cancer Center will raise the bar for women’s cancer treatment and clinical research in a ‘woman-centric,’ healing environment.”

Centralized multidisciplinary clinics unite breast and gynecologic cancer specialists in one location, while on-site infusion therapy suites ensure comfort and convenience. Once complete, patients will also have access to fertility preservation services integrated into their care planning as well as clinical trial programs and precision medicine tailored specifically to women’s cancers.

Housed within the new four-story Brian and Susan Keeley Pavilion, the facility is designed with warmth, privacy and healing in mind, offering a truly patient-centered experience. This unique structure was designed by architecture firm Arcadis, formerly known as CRTKL, and is currently under construction by NV2A, which is serving as the general contractor.
