CORAL GABLES, FL – April 22, 2026 – Baptist Health Foundation announced today that it has received a $2 million donation from Leila and Slaven Zivkovic benefiting the upcoming Al and Jane Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health Cancer Care. This gift will help support cancer research and clinical trials at the new Center, located on the Miami campus of Baptist Health Baptist Hospital.
“Slaven and Leila have been dedicated supporters of Miami Cancer Institute programs for many years and we’re immensely grateful for their generosity,” said Alex Villoch, CEO of Baptist Health Foundation. “This new $2 million gift is a confirmation of their deep commitment to Baptist Health and Miami Cancer Institute. It will further help the Institute in becoming one of the premier cancer research hospitals in the country.”
Slated to open in 2027, the Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center will be a freestanding facility and dedicated destination for women’s cancer care. It will bring together specialized teams and services to treat breast, gynecologic and skin cancer, providing world-class clinical expertise, innovation and compassionate support in a purpose-built environment designed around the specific needs of women.
In dedication of this gift, Ms. Leila Zivkovic said, “In memory of the women in our lives we lost to cancer, inspired by the brave women who are courageously fighting it, and hopeful that the women who will face cancer in the future will be able to beat it, we are honored to support Miami Cancer Institute’s advancement of cancer research, cancer care and cancer cure!” Mr. Slaven Zivkovic added, “Miami is quickly becoming a true global destination, so it’s fitting that the team at Baptist Health is creating a world-class cancer research hospital right here in Miami. Leila and I are excited to be part of this groundbreaking – and important – effort.”
