Baptist Health Foundation Receives $1 Million Gift from Carl DeSantis Estate
February 16, 2024
BOYNTON BEACH, FL – February 16, 2024 – Baptist Health Foundation announced that Carl DeSantis has left a planned gift of $1 million in support of Bethesda Hospital, part of Baptist Health. The donation will help fund the renovation of the Emergency Department at Bethesda Hospital East.
Mr. DeSantis, who passed in 2023 at age 84, was born in Massachusetts and raised in Florida. He was a successful entrepreneur involved in the creation Sundown Vitamins (later known as Rexall Sundown) and Celsius Holdings.
DeSantis and his family turned to Bethesda Hospital for care for many years. His appreciation for the hospital and its staff led him to support the renovation of the Bethesda Hospital East Emergency Department with the planned gift, in service to his community.
“We are so honored to have had the long partnership with Mr. DeSantis over the years,” said Kimberley Trombly Burmeister, Senior Director of Development of Baptist Health Foundation. “We are grateful for this impactful gift that will assist with our Emergency Department renovation campaign and get us that much closer to our fundraising goal.”
An important part of Baptist Health’s commitment to Palm Beach County residents is providing high-quality emergency services 24 hours a day. Bethesda Hospital’s team of experienced emergency-trained physicians, specialists and nurses all work together to deliver multi-disciplinary care with a compassionate, patient-focused approach. Baptist Health’s initiative to modernize the Bethesda Hospital East Emergency Department will elevate it into a first-class facility, helping the hospital meet the growing needs of the community and assist its emergency medicine team in providing a high level of care to its patients.
