Baptist Health Foundation Launches Historic $600 Million Fundraising Campaign

October 7, 2024

CORAL GABLES, FL – October 7, 2024 Baptist Health Foundation today officially launched the largest fundraising campaign in the nearly 65-year history of Baptist Health, the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in South Florida. The initiative, named Power Extraordinary: The Campaign for Baptist Health, was revealed at the Foundation’s Grand Gala on Saturday, October 5. It aims to raise a record $600 million in philanthropic donations as an investment in the communities Baptist Health serves.

“This is a significant moment in the trajectory of our organization,” said Bo Boulenger, president and CEO of Baptist Health. “The exceptional generosity of our donors has always powered our progress. Today, as we look to raise the bar by advancing healthcare for South Florida and beyond, we know our philanthropic community will continue to stand with us.”

The Power Extraordinary campaign will support Baptist Health’s vision of providing world-class, compassionate health services by pursuing a reimagined approach to patient care, a new era in research and clinical trials, a hub for the best minds in medicine and a globally recognized center for innovation.

The funds raised through the campaign will help enhance patient care throughout Baptist Health’s service areas, which include Miami-Dade, Monroe, Broward and Palm Beach counties; and will help drive breakthroughs in research and innovation that will make the organization a leader in healthcare, nationally and internationally.

“Since fundraising began in 2019, our generous donors have provided close to $428 million in philanthropic commitments,” said Alex Villoch, CEO of Baptist Health Foundation. “We can’t thank them enough for the impact they’re making on the quality of care we provide, and the quality of life in South Florida. We are looking forward to an exciting future as we ‘power extraordinary’ together.”

To date, the fundraising campaign has enabled investments in patient care, research and clinical trials and new facilities, including:

  • The largest donation in Baptist Health history from Kenneth C. Griffin of Citadel and Griffin Catalyst, which will support the development and construction of the new Kenneth C. Griffin Center at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, which will expand brain and spine treatment and research, all under one roof
  • Ten endowed chairs that are allowing Baptist Health’s physician-investigators to advance research and treatment in clinical neuroscience, stroke neurology, pain and rehabilitative medicine, radiation oncology, skin cancer, cardiology, orthopedics and more

“These are just a few of the ways philanthropy is making a difference for our patients and community,” said Michael Katz, Baptist Heath Foundation Board chair. “As South Florida continues to grow, so does the need for medicine at the highest level. This campaign will support Baptist Health’s strengths in cancer, cardiac and vascular, brain and spine and orthopedics so that patients can receive the most advanced care in the world, right here at home.”
