Baptist Health Foundation Bougainvillea Ball Celebrates Major Donors to Baptist Health Mariners Hospital
February 28, 2023
TAVERNIER, FL - February 28, 2023 - More than 250 guests attended Baptist Health Foundation’s 2023 Bougainvillea Ball on Saturday, January 21 at Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada, Florida. The event celebrated the Foundation’s Giving Society members and other donors to Baptist Health Mariners Hospital in Tavernier.
The Bougainvillea Ball was held in a beautifully decorated ballroom at the Cheeca Lodge and featured a cocktail hour, seated dinner, band and a live auction. Speakers included Holly Merrill Raschein, chair of the Bougainvillea Ball; Drew Grossman, CEO of Baptist Health Mariners Hospital and Fishermen’s Community Hospital; and Alex Villoch, CEO of Baptist Health Foundation.
“The Bougainvillea Ball is one of the Foundation’s most popular annual events,” said Alex Villoch, CEO of Baptist Health Foundation. “This year, we wanted to make it an opportunity to show our appreciation to our supporters and celebrate the impact they are making on the quality of healthcare available at Mariners Hospital.”
Donations made at the event benefited the fund to build a new state-of-the-art endoscopy suite at the hospital, which is located in the Upper Keys. Endoscopy is an essential screening and treatment tool for gastrointestinal (GI) and general surgeons, and local patients and visitors alike will benefit from the new suite.
“We are so grateful to the Mariners Hospital donor community,” said Drew Grossman, CEO, Baptist Health Mariners Hospital and Fishermen’s Community Hospital. “Time and time again, they demonstrate just how committed they are to supporting excellence at the hospital while continually enhancing care for patients in the Upper Keys. The backing of the endoscopy suite is just one more example of that commitment.”
The Bougainvillea Ball was chaired by Holly Merrill Raschein and the event committee included Emily Carter, Maggie Diaz, Linsey Ekblom, Christina Steele and Claudia Stober. Gold sponsors included Tim and Joan Delaney, Engel Construction Inc., Gary and Kathy Marowske, and Lindy and Joe Roth. Silver sponsors included TD Bank, Small Hospital Innovations, and Brian Devries and Barbara Pugh. Bronze sponsors included American Caribbean Real Estate, Mike and Barb Benninger, William and Elaine Gilbert Jr., Rick Gudoian, Holly Merrill Raschein, Rich Family Foundation and Michael and Janis Walsh.
Baptist Health Mariners Hospital is the only hospital serving the Upper Keys community. Founded in 1962, it is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Tavernier.
