February 21, 2023

PLANTATION, FL – February 21, 2023 – Baptist Health Cancer Care's Radiation Oncology in Plantation has received full accreditation by the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Accreditation Program for Excellence®, or APEx™. The accreditation term will align with the four-year accreditation that Miami Cancer Institute’s Radiation Oncology earned on Aug. 10, 2021.APEx Accreditation Badge

"This accreditation highlight’s our commitment to top quality patient care and signifies that we've implemented policies and procedures that fulfill the standards set forth by APEx. Standards that are organized around enabling effective communication and appropriate, coordinated treatment, along with a focus on patient-centered care," said Alonso Gutierrez, PhD, MBA, assistant vice president and chief physicist.

This APEx accreditation validates that Miami Cancer Institute has and will continue to have systems, personnel, policies and procedures in place to demonstrate dedication to high-quality patient care, a respect for protecting the rights of patients, and being responsive to patient needs and concerns.

The Plantation location is now the second Baptist Health facility to be APEx Accredited. Miami Cancer Institute’s main campus was the first.

"The entire team worked diligently to successfully complete this milestone project, which places us on the map as one of only 33 facilities that have demonstrated the highest quality of safety and radiation oncology standards recognized by ASTRO—the most important professional body in Radiation Oncology."
