Lynn Cancer Institute will present new radiation oncology research and clinical expertise at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), September 26-30, 2026, in Boston. The presentations will highlight emerging approaches in MR-guided adaptive radiation therapy, radiopharmaceutical therapy, proton therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and treatment timing across a range of complex cancers.

The research spans several areas of significant clinical need, including brain metastases, prostate cancer, pancreaticobiliary cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, oropharyngeal cancer, anal cancer, and pediatric and young adult lymphoma. Among the studies are analyses of PSMA PET-derived biomarkers in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, early intracranial radiotherapy for breast cancer brain metastases, ablative MR-guided adaptive radiotherapy for anatomically challenging tumors, and outcomes following proton craniospinal irradiation for solid tumor leptomeningeal metastasis.

“ASTRO is an important forum for advancing the science and clinical practice of radiation oncology,” said Minesh P. Mehta, M.D., deputy director and chief of radiation oncology at Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute. “The research our team is presenting reflects the breadth of innovation taking place across our program, from adaptive treatment planning and proton therapy to radiopharmaceuticals and stereotactic approaches for patients with complex disease. Most importantly, these studies are focused on questions that can directly inform how we deliver safer, more precise, and more effective care.”

Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute researchers will have four oral and 17 poster presentations, and participate in four educational sessions at ASTRO 2026:

Miami, FL / Cayman Islands—June 23, 2026—Baptist Health International Cayman Islands, part of Baptist Health South Florida, has earned its third Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, reaffirming its commitment to the highest international standards in quality, safety and patient care.

The accreditation recognizes the organization’s PET & CT Imaging Center, which provides advanced diagnostic imaging services to patients in the Cayman Islands and throughout the Caribbean, helping improve access to high-quality care closer to home.

The Center was awarded JCI’s Gold Seal of Approval® following a rigorous evaluation process that assessed compliance across a broad range of healthcare standards, including patient safety, staff qualifications and competency, quality improvement processes, patient education and emergency preparedness. Baptist Health International Cayman Islands first earned Joint Commission International accreditation in 2020 and is now celebrating its third consecutive accreditation cycle, demonstrating its continued commitment to clinical excellence and continuous improvement.

“Maintaining Joint Commission International accreditation for a third consecutive cycle reflects our unwavering commitment to providing patients in the Cayman Islands and across the Caribbean with access to world-class diagnostic imaging services close to home,” said Rogelio E. Ribas, M.D., corporate vice president of Baptist Health International. “We are proud to continue advancing healthcare excellence in the region through innovation and patient-centered care.”

Equipped with advanced positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) technology, the Imaging Center offers state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services, supporting the early detection, diagnosis and monitoring of cancer, cardiovascular disease and a variety of other medical conditions. All scans are interpreted by Baptist Health board-certified radiologists based in the United States, providing patients with access to specialized expertise and the resources of Baptist Health's internationally recognized clinical programs. Since opening in 2019, the Center has helped reduce the need for patients throughout the Caribbean to travel abroad for specialized imaging services by expanding access to advanced diagnostic care closer to home.

Joint Commission International accreditation is recognized worldwide as a benchmark for healthcare quality and patient safety. The designation reflects an organization’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and continuous improvement.

The milestone was commemorated during a with a dedication ceremony on June 17th, bringing together volunteers, partners, and community members who supported the build, as well as current and former homeowners whose lives have been impacted by the partnership.

Since 2000 Baptist Health South Florida has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami and increased their commitment over the years to support six to eight families each year in achieving affordable homeownership, contributing more than $7.8 million toward housing opportunities across the region.

Among the families moving forward on their path to homeownership through this partnership is future homeowner Shirley, mother of three, grandmother, and primary caregiver for her son and elderly mother, who is purchasing her first home through Miami Habitat’s affordable homeownership program.

“I’ve always wanted to get my own home. But it’s been a rough road.” Shirley said. “I’ve moved five times in 10 years. It’s time."

As a hospitality professional, Shirley has spent her life caring for others in our community. Now, with support from Baptist Health South Florida and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, she is taking a meaningful step toward homeownership and long-term stability for her family,

“Now, changing from renter to homeowner, I can breathe. My eldest son has additional needs, and I want to give him a place where he can feel at home… not moving from one rental to the next. I’m very excited about this opportunity.” Shirley said.

Mario Artecona, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, said: “Baptist sets the bar high when it comes to community engagement. Not only have they helped financially, but their employees have engaged in the construction of each home and formed strong bonds with the families. Their support extends much further than a donation. Engagement is very much in their DNA. We could not be more fortunate to have such a committed partner.”

Bo Boulenger, President and CEO of Baptist Health, said: “Reaching our 100th home with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami reflects more than a milestone — it represents lives changed, families strengthened and futures made possible. For more than two decades, our team members have shown up not only with resources, but with heart, helping build safe, stable homes alongside the families who will live in them. We are proud to stand with Davina and so many others as they take this meaningful step toward homeownership, and we remain committed to expanding opportunities that support the long-term well-being of our communities.”

As housing affordability remains a critical issue across South Florida, partnerships like this continue to create pathways to homeownership for local families, helping ensure that more people have a place to call home.
