Cornell Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine

We are a hospital-based, inpatient rehabilitation unit that cares for adult patients facing acute or disabling illnesses and injuries, including strokes and fractures. We are accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Our program includes:

• 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care
• Rehabilitation physicians, called physiatrists, who are specially trained in physical and rehabilitation medicine
• Physical, occupational and speech therapists who provide specialized therapy a minimum of three hours a day, at least five days a week
• Case managers to coordinate discharge plans and provide education, family guidance and referrals for additional care
• In-house services, including wound care, dialysis, respiratory therapy, diagnostic testing and medication management

We accept Medicare, Managed Medicare, commercial insurance, Medicaid and self pay. For a comprehensive list of insurance plans accepted, please click here. We will apply for authorization if your plan requires it, and we will work with your insurance plan to determine any personal costs.

We accept referrals from multiple sources, including physicians, care managers, insurance companies, advocates, families and patients.
