About Mariners Hospital

The only hospital serving the Upper Keys community, Mariners Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Tavernier and founded in 1962. In addition to medical-surgical and intensive care units, Mariners is home to the southernmost branch of Baptist Health's Miami Cancer Institute. Specialized nurses, trained by the Oncology Nursing Society in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration and pain management, offer care in a supportive and healing environment. Mariners also operates the only hospital-based hyperbaric chamber in the Keys, which uses oxygen therapy to treat many illnesses and injuries, including diving-related decompression sickness, non-healing wounds, radiation tissue damage, and carbon monoxide poisoning. The Diabetes Care Center and Sleep Diagnostic Center are also located on the campus, as well as swing bed services, which are available to patients who are recovering from illness or injury and require specialized care. And to help the Keys community achieve a new level of wellbeing, the 7,000-square-foot Wellness Center, located in the Tassell Medical Arts Building, offers a comprehensive line of gym equipment, exercise physiologists, group exercise classes, and personal training.

Resources for Hospital Data

Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) makes available data on hospital prices and performance on their Internet website at FloridaHealthFinder.gov and Pricing.FloridaHealthFinder.gov. The data on hospital prices and performance are based on a compilation of charges for the average patient. A patient's bill may vary from the average shown, depending upon the severity of illness and individual care needs. The service bundle information is a non-personalized estimate of costs that may be incurred by the patient for anticipated services and that actual costs will be based on services actually provided to the patient.
