About Fishermen's Community Hospital

Fishermen's Community Hospital was founded in 1962 by dedicated community members who understood the need for a hospital as a cornerstone of any thriving community. When the hospital was severely damaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017, Baptist Health South Florida established a mobile field hospital and a custom-designed modular hospital to ensure there was no interruption of care to the community. Construction on the entirely new hospital began in 2018.

Opened in the summer of 2021, the innovative 37,330-square-foot, 22-bed Fishermen’s Community Hospital is designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane wind speeds. The hospital provides specialized services for the Middle and Lower Keys communities including 24/7 emergency care with on-site helipad, diagnostic imaging, inpatient care, intensive care unit, telestroke services to provide stroke patients with emergency access to board-certified neurologists, outpatient laboratory and rehabilitation.

As the southernmost branch of Baptist Health’s Miami Cancer Institute, the hospital provides services to patients that enhance and expand outpatient cancer care close to home. The oncology suite offers chemotherapy, molecular therapies, targeted therapies, transfusions and hydration services.

Outpatient rehabilitation services are conveniently located in Marathon at Gulfside Village Plaza, 5800 Overseas Highway, Suite 43 (physician’s prescription is required.)

Resources for Hospital Data

Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) makes available data on hospital prices and performance on their Internet website at FloridaHealthFinder.gov and Pricing.FloridaHealthFinder.gov. The data on hospital prices and performance are based on a compilation of charges for the average patient. A patient's bill may vary from the average shown, depending upon the severity of illness and individual care needs. The service bundle information is a non-personalized estimate of costs that may be incurred by the patient for anticipated services and that actual costs will be based on services actually provided to the patient.
