About Fishermen's Community Hospital

Fishermen's Community Hospital was founded in 1962 by dedicated community members who understood the need for a hospital as a cornerstone of any thriving community. When the hospital was severely damaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017, Baptist Health South Florida established a mobile field hospital followed by a custom-designed modular hospital to ensure no interruption of care to the Middle Keys community. Construction on the entirely new replacement hospital began in 2018.

The innovative 37,330-square-foot, 22-bed Fishermen’s Community Hospital is designed to withstand wind speeds of a Category 5 hurricane. The hospital provides specialized services such as 24/7 emergency care with telestroke services to give stroke patients immediate access to Board-certified neurologists; an on-site helipad; eight inpatient beds, including two intensive care beds with 24/7 monitoring; nine emergency department beds; five additional recovery beds; diagnostic imaging; rehabilitation; and laboratory services.

Outpatient rehabilitation services are conveniently located in Marathon at Gulfside Village Plaza, 5800 Overseas Highway, Suite 43. A physician’s prescription is required.

Fishermen’s Community Hospital will soon offer surgical services, including endoscopy. As the southernmost branch of Baptist Health’s Miami Cancer Institute, the hospital will also provide patients with high-quality oncology care close to home. Services will include 3D mammography, outpatient chemotherapy, biotherapy and hydration and transfusion therapy.

Resources for Hospital Data

Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) makes available data on hospital prices and performance on their Internet website at FloridaHealthFinder.gov and Pricing.FloridaHealthFinder.gov. The data on hospital prices and performance are based on a compilation of charges for the average patient. A patient's bill may vary from the average shown, depending upon the severity of illness and individual care needs. The service bundle information is a non-personalized estimate of costs that may be incurred by the patient for anticipated services and that actual costs will be based on services actually provided to the patient.
