Services for International Patients

Baptist Health International’s Coordination of Care team is available 24 hours a day and 7 days per week. Your personal patient coordinator will assist you throughout your journey at Baptist Health.

With one easy phone call to our International Office, your personal patient coordinator will help schedule all of your medical needs, including hospital admissions, outpatient testing and physician consults, all at no additional cost to you. Our staff is multilingual and trained to understand the special needs international patients and their families might have.

It is important to bring as much information as possible when traveling abroad for medical care. Some suggestions include:

• Updated copies of your complete medical records including results of all recent tests and your treating physician's medical history report.
• A complete list of any medications you are currently taking.
• Names, addresses and phone numbers of all your in-country treating physicians.
• Updated passport and applicable visas.

We can coordinate air and ground ambulance transfers to our facilities as needed.

Airports & Airlines

South Florida is served by most of the world’s major airlines via Miami International Airport (MIA), Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). Opa-Locka Executive Airport (OPF), Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport (TMB) and Boca Raton Airport (BCT) serve private aircraft and other small planes.

Visa & Customs

For information about U.S. visa requirements and processing times, contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your home country or visit the U.S. Department of State online. Patients traveling to the United States are required to be in possession of passports that are valid for six months beyond the period of their intended stay.

Hotels & Accommodation

Baptist Health International has negotiated discounted rates with many South Florida hotels and extended-stay properties. Accommodations range from budget to luxury. Your coordinator will assist with reservations for you and your family. We also offer visiting patients a special extended stay rate at the Hilton Miami Dadeland on the main campus of Baptist Hospital.

Ground Transportation

If needed, we can arrange transportation to and from the airport and your hotel. In addition, we can also provide transportation to our facilities. We can also assist with discounted rates for car rentals.

To ensure that you are always fully informed, your patient representative will arrange for language interpretation services as appropriate. Our staff language bank gives us access to team members who speak more than 30 languages. If Spanish is your primary language you will feel right at home, as a large percentage of our care team members are native Spanish speakers.

We will provide financial counseling that includes securing insurance verification and pre-authorization (or quoting all-inclusive pricing for patients without insurance). We will also assist with payment arrangements.
