What is HIPAA?

HIPAA, short for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, was signed into law on August 21, 1996. The primary intent of HIPAA is to give patients and consumers greater rights to privacy and limits how we use individually identifiable health information.

Our Partnership With You!

The role of the Privacy Team is to be your business partner in maintaining and protecting patient privacy in every aspect of care and service. The Privacy Office serves as the first point of contact for all issues related to HIPAA privacy standards within Baptist Health and its affiliates.
