Vivian Nguyen, PharmD, BCPS practices as a Pharmacy Supervisor overseeing the Oncology in Investigational Drug Services at the Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Nutritional Science from the University of Florida, followed by her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, Jacksonville. After graduation, she completed both her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Investigational Drugs and Research residency programs at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She also became board certified in Pharmacotherapy during that time. Dr. Nguyen possesses a strong interest in teaching and education, exemplified by her completion of a teaching certification through her residency program and her experience serving as a mentor and preceptor to students and residents.
Michelle M. Bustamante earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2010 from the University Of Florida College Of Pharmacy. After graduation, she completed a PGY-1 with pediatric emphasis at Wolfson Children’s Hospital/Baptist Health, in Jacksonville, Florida, where she also obtained her teaching certificate from the University of Florida. Upon completion of residency, she began her pharmacy career as a Clinical Pharmacist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. During her 7 years at JDCH, Dr. Bustamante became a Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Hematology Oncology and also obtained her board certification in pediatric pharmacotherapy. In 2018 Dr. Bustamante transitioned to her current role as the primary pediatric oncology pharmacy specialist with an additional role in research, at the Miami Cancer Institute/Baptist Health South Florida. Michelle is currently the main preceptor of the pediatric rotation for the PGY2 Investigational Drugs and Research Pharmacy Residency, the PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency; and the program coordinator of the IDR-PGY2 program.
Shawanna Addison, Pharm.D. is an Outpatient Oncology Investigational Clinical Pharmacist supporting the clinical trials services at Miami Cancer Institute. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Florida A&M University in 2010 and started her career as a community pharmacist in Dallas, TX. She later transitioned to an inpatient pharmacist within the Jackson health System. She has practiced in Pediatric, Critical Care and Transplant services prior to becoming an Clinical Pharmacist for MCI Infusion services. She has an interest in precepting students and residents in oncology investigational services.
Eric Cheung is a dedicated Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and proud preceptor within the Oncology and Investigational Drug Research Post-Graduate Year-2 (PGY-2) Residency Programs at the Miami Cancer Institute. He is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care to patients facing some of the toughest battles — and equally passionate about training the next generation of oncology pharmacists. He specializes in breast cancer and breast cancer clinical trials where he thrives on translating complex regimens and protocols into meaningful, patient-centered care. As a preceptor, he is known for being approachable, enthusiastic about teaching, and always ready to throw in a clinical pearl or two (and maybe a joke if the timing feels right). He strongly believes that growth happens outside your comfort zone — and that every question is a good question (especially if it sparks a great discussion). Residents can expect a rotation filled with high-impact learning, thoughtful feedback, and a supportive environment to help them gain both confidence and competence in the ever-evolving world of oncology.
Walt Harris, PharmD, BCOP is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist with Investigational Drug Services at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee in 2015. Following this, he completed an assistantship with the Warren Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery in 2016, where he worked on lipophilicity assay development for screening candidate molecules. In 2016, Walt joined Investigational Drug Services at Moffitt Cancer Center, where he has worked in various capacities, especially with breast, cutaneous, and Phase I studies. His interests include teaching and precepting pharmacy students and residents, clinical trial development and protocol optimization, early phase clinical trials, and chemoprevention. He is an active member of FLASCO, HOPA, and ACCP.
Monique Calil Hazelcorn, PharmD., BCPS, is the Medication Safety and Quality Coordinator at Miami Cancer Institute. In her role, she leads the medication safety program by thoroughly reviewing medication-related incidents, promoting process improvements, and collaborating with the system-wide medication safety team. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Florida International University and completed her Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of Florida in 2015. She furthered her expertise through a PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Broward Health Medical Center where she continued her pharmacy career as the clinical coordinator, leading critical care, liver/kidney transplant, oncology, and emergency medicine pharmacy services. Monique has a passion for continuing education, precepting students and residents, and promoting medication safety.
Dina Dumercy McHenry, Pharm.D., BCOP, MBA, CSSGB is the Director of Pharmacy at the Miami Cancer Institute. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Florida A & M University and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency with a focus in Oncology at Jackson Memorial Hospital/ FAMU. After her residency she completed an ASHP Oncology Patient Care Traineeship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has over 15 years of experience practicing in Oncology. In 2022 she obtained a Masters in Business Administration at the Louisiana State University. She currently serves as the co-chair of the MCI Oncology P&T Committee, and is a former program director for a post graduate year 2(PGY2) residency who achieved ASHP accreditation within that programs first year. She is an active member of several professional and civic organizations including Hematology Oncology Pharmacist Association (HOPA), Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO) Board of Directors, and American Society of Health-system Pharmacy (ASHP) at the local and national level. She has a passion for educating patients and caregivers about cancer treatment, patient safety and increasing cancer awareness.
Nilda Pelegrino is an Investigational Drug Service clinical pharmacy specialist and preceptor for the PGY2 Investigational Drugs and Research Pharmacy Residency at the Miami Cancer Institute. Nilda is dedicated and devoted to providing evidence-based clinical care focused within the clinical trial setting. Nilda specializes in the non-oncology research space coordinating with the Miami Cardiology and Vascular Institute, Miami Neuroscience Institute, and South Miami Hospital multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and manage clinical trials. Her passion is to always ensure effective and safe patient care while advancing pharmacy practices. As a preceptor, Nilda is known for being enthusiastic, adaptable, and patient in providing a supportive and inviting environment to obtain the confidence in becoming a well-rounded clinical specialist.
Ernesto Perez, Pharm.D. is the Operations Supervisor at Miami Cancer Institute. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology and Forensic Chemistry at Florida International University before completing his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2016. After completing a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Boca Raton Regional Hospital in, he joined the clinical pharmacist team at Baptist Hospital in 2017. Dr. Perez now helps oversee operations at Miami Cancer Institute and its satellite infusion sites and serves as preceptor for Oncology Pharmacy Operations.
Tracy Romanowski, PharmD, MS is a Clinical Pharmacist supporting the Investigational Drug Services program at Miami Cancer Institute. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Philosophy from West Virginia University and her Master of Biomedical Sciences from Florida Atlantic University before obtaining her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2012. She practiced as an oncology pharmacist and as an investigational drugs pharmacist at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, FL before coming to the Miami Cancer Institute. She is currently an active member of the Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA), and she has an interest in precepting students and residents.
Tiba Al Sagheer, Pharm.D. BCOP, BCACP, is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Miami Cancer Institute. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Midwestern University. After graduation, Dr. Al Sagheer completed pharmacy residency at the Mayo Clinic followed by oncology training at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Al Sagheer currently practices in an ambulatory clinic as part of a multidisciplinary team where she is able to provide direct patient care, participate in clinical research, and education. She is passionate about education and has experience in both formal classroom teaching as well as students and resident precepting in the clinical setting. Dr. Al Sagheer is an active member of several professional organizations and currently serves on the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT) planning committee.
Neisy Vazquez, Pharm.D., BCOP, is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the neuro-oncology and sarcoma clinics at Miami Cancer Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Florida International University and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2018. Dr. Vazquez completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics. Following residency, she joined the pharmacy team at Miami Cancer Institute, where she now serves as an integral member of the medical oncology team. Dr. Vazquez has a strong passion for teaching and serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents. She values close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and meaningful interactions with patients.
Andrea Velandia, Pharm.D., BCPS practices as Clinical Pharmacist II, in the Investigational Drug Service (IDS) Pharmacy, at Miami Cancer Institute. She has extensive experience in the pharmacy field as she has been a pharmacy technician, intern, resident, and clinical pharmacist. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida in 2012, and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency, at Orlando Regional Medical Center in 2013. She previously practiced as a clinical pharmacist at Lakeland Regional Health, for six years, and then joined the IDS team at Miami Cancer Institute in October 2019. She obtained her board certification in pharmacotherapy (BCPS) in 2021 and recently completed the IDS ASHP Professional Certificate. She found her passion for oncology in the early steps of her career, shortly after arriving from her home country, Colombia. Cancer has affected her family and friends multiple times; for this reason, she has chosen to dedicate her career to serve cancer patients and their families. She also has a great interest in precepting students and residents.
