The Baptist Health Community-Based Pharmacy Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Residency is a 52-week comprehensive and dynamic program that integrates a variety of experiences across the Clinical Pharmacy enterprise, ambulatory outpatient clinics, and a dual-accredited health system specialty pharmacy.

This residency aims to foster a highly skilled practitioner equipped with advanced knowledge and clinical expertise necessary to deliver exceptional pharmaceutical care in community pharmacy environments. The program focuses on developing and implementing innovative and sustainable patient care services while also working to enhance and optimize existing services.

Residents will engage in a broad spectrum of clinical activities, gain hands-on experience in patient management, medication therapy optimization, and collaborative care within multidisciplinary teams. They will be involved in designing and executing patient care initiatives that address both immediate needs and long-term health outcomes. Additionally, the program emphasizes the importance of maintaining high standards of care and continuously improving service delivery.

Upon successful completion of the residency, graduates will possess the proficiency and confidence to excel in diverse community and specialty pharmacy settings. They will be prepared to take on significant roles within these environments or to pursue further specialization through a PGY2 residency or a fellowship program, should they seek to deepen their expertise in a specific area of pharmaceutical practice.
