    Program Director

    Karl Sayegh, M.D., joined Radiology Associates of South Florida (RASF) on May 1, 2020 as a Cardiothoracic Radiologist. Dr. Sayegh was formerly an assistant professor of radiology at McGill University, director of Cardiac and Thoracic Imaging, and director of the Cardiac Imaging fellowship program at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC). He concurrently held a position of associate radiologist at the University of Montreal Health Center. During his tenure as Chief of Cardiac and Thoracic Imaging at the MUHC, he launched the first pilot project for lung cancer screening in the province of Quebec, Canada and developed the Cardiac CT and Cardiac MR programs and training.

    Dr. Sayegh attended medical school at the University of Montreal followed by a Diagnostic Radiology residency at McGill University in Montreal. Dr. Sayegh then completed a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Intervention at the Brigham and Women Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Imaging at the Massachusetts General Hospital where he also served as a clinical assistant in Radiology. He then completed an additional fellowship in Cardiac Imaging at the Baptist Cardiac and Vascular Institute in Miami, FL.

    Dr. Sayegh is the Cardiothoracic Rotation Direction and Core Faculty in our Residency Program.

    Diagnostic Radiology Core Faculty

    Ricardo Cury, M.D. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Radiology Associates of South Florida, a multi-specialty group of 67 physicians and the tenth largest private-practice Radiology group in the country. Dr. Cury is a non-invasive cardiovascular radiologist and is the Director of Cardiac Imaging at Baptist Hospital of Miami and Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute. He is a clinical associate professor at Florida International University. Dr. Cury was a former Clinical Director of Cardiac MRI at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School.

    Dr. Cury is an author of more than 100 original scientific publications in major Cardiology and Radiology journals and over 250 abstracts, book chapters, case reports or invited presentations. He has been principal investigator in 5 research grants. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular CT and also reviewer of several journals such as Circulation, JACC, and others. His research interests include application of Cardiac CT and MRI in patients with acute chest pain in the emergency department; application of stress perfusion CT and MRI; quantification of coronary artery stenosis and plaque with coronary CTA and in-vivo atherosclerotic plaque imaging with CT, MRI, IVUS and PET.

    Ricardo Cury, M.D. is a Core Faculty Member in our Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program. He received his medical degree from Santos School of Medical Science based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

    Interventional Radiology Rotation Director

    Brian J. Schiro, M.D., RPVI, FSIR is an Interventional Radiologist with Radiology Associates of South Florida and is associated with Baptist Hospital of Miami, West Kendall Baptist Hospital, and South Miami Hospital. He is the program director for the Vascular and Interventional Radiology Independent Residency Program. He is also the Medical Director of the Noninvasive Vascular Lab at Baptist and Doctors Hospitals and serves on the board of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for vascular testing. His research interests are focused on peripheral vascular disease, aortic aneurysms, and vascular testing.

    Dr. Schiro is our Interventional Radiology Rotation Director and will be developing the didactic content for our Vascular Imaging sessions.

    A partner with Radiology Associates of South Florida, Kevin Abrams, M.D., has been an attending radiologist at the Baptist Hospital of Miami, South Miami Hospital, Homestead Hospital, Doctors Hospital, Baptist West Kendall Hospital, and the Baptist Outpatient Centers. He serves as the Medical Director of Neuroradiology and MRI as well as the Chief of Radiology at Baptist Hospital. Dr. Abrams is one of the founding members of the Baptist Neuroscience Center.

    Dr. Abrams graduated from State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, Syracuse, New York. He is the Neuroradiology Rotation Director and will also be developing the MRI didactic content.

Dr. Podrasky was the founder of Thyroid Ultrasound Clinic at Baptist Outpatient Services as well as the founder of Fetal MRI program at Baptist Health South Florida.     Philip Teitelbaum MD, has been a Pediatric and General Diagnostic Radiologist with RASF since 2011 and is a partner physician with the group. As a core Pediatric Radiology faculty member, Dr. Teitelbaum will also be developing Fluoroscopy and Radiography educational content for the residency program. He is particularly interested in multimodality imaging of the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts, fetal MRI, quality improvement, and appropriate resource utilization.

    Dr. Teitelbaum currently serves on the Fluoroscopy Subspecialty Committee for the Society for Pediatric Radiology and has previously served on the SPR’s Workforce Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
