Every year we welcome 72,000 doctors, nurses and allied health professionals from our local, regional, national and international communities who attend our program of 450 CME/CE courses.

Many of our 19 annual symposiums are held at hotels and resorts throughout Greater Miami and the Beaches, Florida Keys, or on Florida’s West Coast. Conferences presented weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually include regularly scheduled conference series, grand rounds, tumor boards and live webcasts. There are no charges for attending these on-campus conferences.
Our Online Learning Program offers over 200 CME/CE Internet Courses, as well as American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) point-approved courses. These are recorded continuing education lectures and studio-produced courses including those required for relicensure, which are available at no charge.

Our Mission
Baptist Health South Florida's Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program Mission is to provide continuing education to doctors and allied healthcare professionals that will improve competence and/or performance in order to improve patient care and treatment outcomes. Organized educational activities focus on both existing and new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities as well as disease prevention.

Our Audience
Baptist Health provides CME opportunities to doctors and clinical employees on staff at all our affiliated hospitals and outpatient facilities, and welcomes healthcare professionals from the local, regional, national and international medical communities. Conferences and symposiums are also approved for CE credit for psychologists, nurses and other healthcare disciplines, depending on appropriateness of content and credit approval requirements.

Our Formula for Success
Our success is measured not only by our commendable accreditation status, but also by our reputation as a world-class provider of CME. This status is attributable to our structure as a corporate department with a centralized operations model that ensures compliance with all regulations and policies affecting the provision of CME to physicians. Fundamental to our success is the fact that Baptist Health's executive leadership recognizes the value of such education for doctors and clinical professionals and the importance of our remaining financially independent.

Our Numbers
In Fiscal Year 2018 the CME Department produced over 420 activities, including 21 symposiums, 87 conferences, 664 regularly scheduled series activities and 186 Internet courses. Total attendance was 36,781, and more than 89,000 continuing education (CE) credits were awarded to doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

Our History
In 2015 Baptist Health received its third award for Accreditation with Commendation for six years as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). Our program has evolved from serving a single hospital in 1989 to becoming an internationally recognized CME provider serving doctors and employees of the largest not-for-profit health system in South Florida.

Our Structure
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Office of Baptist Health’s Clinical Enterprise, part of Baptist Health’s Corporate Clinical Administration, this corporate CME department provides continuing education services for the doctors and clinical professionals affiliated with all Baptist Health hospitals, entities and affiliates. The CME Department consists of 16 professionals led by a medical director and a corporate director. With few exceptions, the department has full operational control over CME activity planning and implementation, and is accountable for compliance with the policies of the ACCME, Baptist Health and other regulatory bodies.
