Becky Montesino, RN BSN, MS, CENP

Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer
Baptist Hospital

Baptist Hospital/Baptist Children's Hospital, with 680 licensed beds, is the largest healthcare facility of the five hospitals within Baptist Health South Florida. Ninety-six new cardiac and neuroscience inpatient beds were recently added, along with a new Emergency Center featuring 80 treatment rooms for adults and 20 more designed especially for children.

Since 1960, Baptist Hospital of Miami has been one of the most respected medical centers in South Florida. Italian Renaissance architecture and beautiful grounds offer a warm, welcoming atmosphere, while a full range of sophisticated medical services attracts patients from around the world. This is where a highly qualified nursing staff, equipped with the finest technologies available, provides a model for treatment capabilities that is equaled by few other community hospitals.

In 1998, Baptist Hospital was recognized as a Magnet hospital for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. We were the first hospital in Florida, and the eleventh hospital in the United States, to receive this prestigious designation. Baptist Hospital was re-designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2002, 2006, and again in 2011.

The foundation of our nursing practice is based on Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring, with a goal to nurture our most precious resource: competent, caring professional nurses. We have a strategic roadmap for success, which includes initiatives to recruit, educate and retain quality nurses through enhancements to overall job satisfaction. We invite you to join us now as Baptist Hospital continues to transform and expand with opportunity.

Doctors Hospital

Welcome to Doctors Hospital, located in the heart of Coral Gables. Here we provide the highest-quality care to South Florida and beyond. With nationally recognized services in orthopedics, neurosurgery, sports medicine, general surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and women’s health, the 281-bed hospital has earned a reputation for medical excellence.

Founded by a group of physicians and Mary Reeder, R.N., who was the hospital's first CEO, Doctors Hospital opened its doors in 1949. Its mandate was simple: Meet the medical needs of a growing community. And from our nurse-led beginnings, we have done just that.

Our more than 300 clinical nurses, ARNP's, educators and leaders work as a team to provide evidence-based care at every level. The nurses collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, technicians and support staff to give our patients the most comprehensive care. We are moving toward Magnet designation, a journey on which our nurses are empowered with a strong voice in decisions about their workplace environment.

Doctors Hospital is an exciting place to work in. With a newly renovated Emergency Center, surgical suites and intensive care unit, we are a state-of-the-art, full-service hospital, complete with the technology of the future. Doctors is the official sports medicine provider for the Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers, Miami Open Tennis, Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, Miami Beach Bowl, FIU Athletics and Miami-Dade County Schools athletics program. We invite you to join us in our mission and become a member of the Doctors Hospital nursing team.

Homestead Hospital

Welcome to Homestead Hospital. Homestead is a 142-bed community hospital where a phenomenal group of healthcare professionals and volunteers achieve outstanding clinical outcomes. We have a beautiful facility in which our employees are able to provide excellent patient care in a warm, friendly environment.

Nursing at Homestead continues to be exciting! Our journey toward Magnet designation was just recently recognized in 2016 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Our nurses are empowered to make decisions that result in improved patient care and work environment.

NDNQI survey results, Gallup employee survey results, low vacancy and turnover rates at Homestead are reflective of a very positive and supportive organization in which to practice your profession. Nurses are especially enthusiastic about our outstanding patient and physician satisfaction scores, and our move to computerized documentation. In fact, we were the pilot site for the Baptist Health Computer Provider Order Entry (CPOE) project.

Nurses at Homestead Hospital have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and influence by cross training, teaching in orientation and learning specialized clinical skills. Many seminars and programs are available, along with flexible scheduling for nurses who want to return to school. Your education and development are valued and supported by our generous tuition reimbursement program. Join us now to be part of the growth and excitement.

Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer
Mariners Hospital

Welcome from Mariners Hospital. We’re the sole provider of emergency and acute care to the Upper Florida Keys community. In addition to caring for our neighbors and families, we also take care of the many tourists who visit here.

Our nurses play an integral role in providing high-quality, innovative, evidence-based care within an environment of integrity and respect to patients, coworkers, physicians and vendors. Mariners Hospital’s commitment to — and consistent delivery of — quality patient care is visible in patient satisfaction scores that are in the top 90th percentile and HCAPS scores that are in the top 80th percentile nationally. In addition, more than 90 percent of our Core Measures have been in the top 90th percentile for more than three years.

Since we are a small hospital, the nurses, physicians and the clinical and support departments have many opportunities to work closely together. Collaboration within all departments is encouraged. Most recently, collaboration among numerous departments resulted in the successful implementation of an outstanding patient safety initiative.

This initiative reduced the incidence of contrast-induced nephropathy in patients scheduled to receive CT scans with contrast medium. Our procedure was recognized by the National Patient Safety Foundation as an extraordinary example of best practice in the field of patient safety. The Foundation presented Mariners Hospital with its 2009 Stand Up for Patient Safety Management Award.

It is an exciting time for nurses to be here as we go forward on our journey to Magnet recognition. We engage employees in decision-making processes to influence positive changes in the work environment through our shared governance structure. We are proud of our quality and patient safety accomplishments and would be glad to share more information with you.

Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer
South Miami Hospital

Welcome to South Miami Hospital. We've been proud to serve our community since we opened our doors in 1960. Today, our hospital has grown into a 453-bed licensed facility known for providing exceptional care.

Nurses at South Miami Hospital, a Magnet-designated hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, enjoy working in an environment that supports and celebrates professional growth, quality patient care and work-life balance.

Opportunities to advance your career are easily attained because of our affiliation with Baptist Health South Florida, the region’s largest not-for-profit healthcare organization. Professional growth begins with our new graduate nurse residency program and continues with opportunities for earning national nursing certifications, obtaining advanced degrees (via onsite and offsite university study), and taking advantage of continuing education courses held on campus.

Our award-winning Professional Nursing Advancement Program richly rewards direct care nurses through a clinical ladder approach. All nursing units also have clinical educators and/or advanced practice nurses to support the staff. Furthermore, nurses on every unit are encouraged to participate in the important decisions about their work environment and practice through shared governance. Nurse retention rates at South Miami Hospital are among the highest in the country and our turnover is among the lowest.

Quality patient care is evident, emphasized and expected throughout the Baptist Health organization. South Miami Hospital participates in national quality benchmarks and consistently ranks in the upper percentiles. Patients appreciate receiving excellent care as evidenced by our high patient satisfaction scores. Area families in particular distinguish South Miami Hospital as one of the Best Places to Give Birth (as voted by South Florida Parenting magazine).

Our respect and concern for family extends to our employees as well. We value work-life balance and appreciate that your life outside of work is very important. Miami is a fun and exciting place to live and we want to make sure that you make the most of it with generous discounts for local and regional attractions, entertainment and services.

Other benefits include child care at an Early Learning Center, Employee Fitness Center and a child/adult sitter back-up program for emergencies. Work hours can also be tailored to individual needs. All of which adds up to an award-winning workplace recognized by Working Mother magazine, Fortune magazine, Gallup and the National Business Group, among others.
