Respiratory Care

Baptist Health South Florida’s Pulmonary Services programs include inpatient and outpatient respiratory care for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other breathing difficulties. These conditions include asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and sleep apnea. Other patients, due to illness or injury require temporary or ongoing mechanical ventilation support.

Our hospitals provide a full spectrum of respiratory care services, including mechanical ventilation and airway maintenance to diagnostic services such as arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function studies. Treatment methods include incentive spirometry, breathing treatments, chest physical therapy and metered dose inhalers. Pulmonary rehabilitation is also available to help patients improve lung function and stamina.
