Pulmonary rehabilitation is an outpatient service used to reduce and control the physical complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A person with COPD has problems breathing due to illnesses such as emphysema, chronic asthma and chronic bronchitis.

This type of rehabilitation can give a patient more independence in carrying out his or her daily activities and may result in fewer visits to the emergency room. Pulmonary rehabilitation also can decrease the number of days a patient spends in the hospital. One day of rehabilitation is equal to two days in the hospital.

During pulmonary rehabilitation, the patient is treated by a staff of therapists licensed by the State of Florida and credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care. They are trained to provide personalized and monitored care with state-of-the-art treatments.
