Neuro-Rehabilitation Program

Restoring Function, Renewing Hope through Neuro-Rehabilitation

For our Neuro-Rehabilitation team, nothing is as rewarding as a patient’s smile. This simple gesture is profound when it represents recovery from stroke, brain injury, other debilitating neurological condition, orthopedic injuries and developmental delays. These victories motivate our compassionate specialists to go the extra mile to help patients.

Neuro-Rehab09.jpgThe Neuro-Rehabilitation Program at the Baptist Health Neuroscience Center provides inpatient/outpatient physical, speech, occupational and recreational therapy. We assist infants, children and adults of all ages who are affected by neurological disorders including:

  • Stroke
  • Brain Injury
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome
  • Swallowing Disorders
  • Visual-perceptual Disorders
  • Our program is accredited by The Joint Commission and The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for inpatient/outpatient stroke and brain injury therapy. After a neurological event, therapy begins in the Baptist Health Neuroscience Center and progresses to an inpatient and/or outpatient rehab unit on one of our hospital campuses.

The Program’s Medical Director, Dr. Bradley M. Aiken, leads an interdisciplinary team of physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, neuropsychologists and therapists. These clinicians collaborate to improve quality of life for patients with acute or chronic neurological illness or injury. Patients have the benefit of a full-service program staffed by specialists trained in every aspect of neuro-rehabilitation treatments.

Traumatic brain injury is the primary cause of disability and death among young people in the United States. Although most head injuries are mild and do not involve loss of consciousness, they can cause serious problems if not treated properly. Our Neuro-Rehabilitation Program has developed inpatient and outpatient programs specifically for brain injury patients. The Intensive Outpatient Brain Injury Program is accredited by the Florida Department of Health Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program.

Clinical Director Richard A. Hamilton, Ph.D., and his team of clinicians provide a coordinated physical, cognitive and behavioral approach to working with patients. Each patient is assigned to a dedicated care coordinator to guide their follow-up care and to connect them with the necessary resources.
