Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Premature babies or infants with special needs are in good hands at Baptist Health. Our Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) are staffed with neonatologists and neonatal nurses 24 hours a day. A wide variety range of pediatric specialists are also available to assist in the NICU as needed. NICU care is designed for babies with various conditions, including extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, perinatal asphyxia, persistent pulmonary hypertension and sepsis. The Level III NICU allows Baptist Health hospitals to refer seriously ill infants in need of need immediate surgery and those weighing less than 2.19 pounds.

The Baptist Health NICU environments were designed for comfort and healing, with special lighting and noise-reduction surfaces. The NICU team partners with parents to promote family-centered care for these most special babies.
